Example: Scout Finch reminds me a lot of Christopher Boone in the novel, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time because both characters are extremely ingenuous and inquisitive when it comes to the basic parts of life. We know this because of her consistent questions of "wouldn't it," "what do you mean," and "why?" What is another character in a novel, TV show, or movie that reminds you of Scout Finch? 3. Maxim (n) - an expression of a general truth or principle
Atticus Finch is fully of life quotes and lessons. For this composition assignment, interview a parent or other respected adult and ask, “Is there a quote or saying that you believe expresses an important value, ethical principle or law of life to live by?” Example: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” In addition, ask if they have had an experience or know a story that helped demonstrate to them the accuracy or “truth” of the quote or maxim. And lastly, compare your quote to something Atticus has said in the novel thus far. Composition REQUIREMENTS: - AT LEAST 300 words in length (1 1/2 pages) - Times New Roman, 12 point font - Double-spaced - Correct MLA heading/format FCA #1: Include FIVE (5) bolded buzz words – 5 points FCA #2: A paragraph dedicated completely to comparing your maxim to an Atticus Finch quote. This paragraph must be grammatically flawless. – 3 points FCA #3: Include and underline TWO examples of prepositional phrases to start a sentence; Example: “Before the war, Lee played football for the community team.” – 2 points DUE MONDAY, JANUARY 12TH -- 10 points Step 1: Based on Chapters 1-5, create a list of everything mentioned about Boo Radley.
